Medical school, law school, finance and consulting are some of the most coveted jobs that arguably provide clear career paths. Entrepreneurship and fashion seem unconventional. Starting a business is not easy. The Harvard Business Review writes that one of the strongest fuels to a good business is a personal connection to what you’re doing. But, is that all that is required?
I am privileged (on behalf of CloudVision) to host Ms Fatuma Salimah, Co-founder Nyuzi Brands to tell us more about her journey from accounting to becoming a fashion entrepreneur on 24 July 2021 at 12:00am EAT. Drawing from her story she will share about transitioning into entrepreneurship.
Fatuma grew up in Uganda but moved to the United Kingdom when she was 16. She holds both Ugandan and British citizenship. She completed a Diploma in Business at Westminster College and a BA Degree in Accounting and Finance at Thames Valley University.
Upon completion of her degree, she took on part-time roles within the fashion industry and, having gained experience in the luxury sector, decided to combine her interest in fashion with her passion for helping people of African descent, to co-found Nyuzi Brands Limited. Nyuzi Brands is an online retailer of high-quality fashion to discerning women (and men) globally. It is a platform that gives young Black Designers a chance to showcase their work on an equal playing field.
Fatuma strongly believes in Napoleon Hill’s words, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
If you have questions about career prospects in the fashion industry, entrepreneurship and following one’s own path, you cannot afford to miss this event.
