He is a qualified Ugandan lawyer trained across three jurisdictions (The United States, The United Kingdom, and Uganda), specializing in competition (antitrust law), corporate litigation and data privacy law.

Joel is recognized for attentive listening, understanding client requirements, and delivering tailored legal strategies that address their business objectives effectively. Joel successfully represented major financial institutions in high-stakes cases before specialized tribunals and appellate courts, where he achieved favorable outcomes, including saving clients amounts in excess of US$ 10 million over two financial years. He has taught private and public law subjects at two Universities.

Joel holds advanced post graduate degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and specialized in competition law and technology law. He is a recipient of numerous academic awards and has presented papers at leading conferences in Oxford, London and Washington D.C. He is the Co-founder of Tech Privacy Legal Lab, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting accountable technology use in East Africa. He is actively empowering young professionals through Cloud Vision Associates to enhance their skills and capacity to thrive in their businesses and workplaces. He has mentored and advised young professionals who have gone on to secure admissions and scholarships to leading Universities across the world in the United Kingdom, the United States, Israel, Germany and South Africa, among others.

Outside the law, Joel finds inspiration in the arts, indulging in theater, and performing poetry.
